United Way Success By 6®
Learning is not something that begins the day a child starts school; it happens in the everyday moments starting the day they are brought home from the hospital. At United Way we know that children’s education comes from the totality of their experience, both inside and outside the classroom. That is why United Way supports parents as their child’s first teacher.
Pilot Program: Born Learning Academy
Whether they realize it or not, parents play an important role in their child’s learning and development. Children learn to expand their vocabulary from parents when they talk about their day; language and literacy when they snuggle up to hear a bedtime story; and mathematics when they help plan meals, cook and bake together, or play board games.
Through a pilot program with the Phillipsburg School District, United Way is conducting a workshop series, called Born Learning, to help parents take advantage of everyday learning opportunities with their young children. Click here for more information.
