Consumer Financial Protection Bureau (CFPB):  Focus on People with Disabilities
The CFPB empowers consumers to take more control over their economic lives and as such they have developed a companion guide which contains tips, tools, and skill-building resources based in insights from individuals with disabilities and from various organizations that serve them.

Helping Hand: Financial Aid for Autism Families
Grant funding for medical treatment, lab testing, medications and supplements not covered by insurance. Limited to families in dire need of financial assistance.

Statewide Respite Grant Program
The New Jersey Statewide Respite Care Program provides respite care services for elderly and functionally impaired persons age 18 and older to relieve their unpaid caregivers of stress from providing daily care. Services include: companions; homemaker/home health aides; medical or social adult day care; camperships; private duty nursing service, and more. Also provides support to help families avoid nursing home placement of their relatives.

Sandy Relief Modular Ramp Program/NJ Department of Human Services Division of Disability Services
Funding to replace, repair or build modular ramps for individuals who require one at their Sandy-impacted primary residences.

Social Security Disability or Supplemental Security Income (SSI) Appeals Process
Social Security recently launched “iAppeals,” an improved online appeals process that makes filing an appeal of your Social Security disability or Supplemental Security Income (SSI) decision easier and faster. You can now upload documents online to support your appeal. This will help speed up the time it takes to receive a decision from Social Security.

New Jersey Housing and Mortgage Finance Agency (HMFA) and the New Jersey Department of Human Services (DHS) - HMFA AND DHS is coordinating available rental subsidy resources to meet the permanent supportive housing needs of residents with developmental disabilities and/or mental health issues. Division-funded housing subsidies are expected to be available, dependent upon resources, to individuals accessing services through both the Community Care Waiver (CCW) and the new Supports Program.
