ALICE Recovery Application

***The ALICE Recovery Fund is not accepting additional applications at this time. The high volume of requests received to date has already exceeded our available funding. If additional funds become available we will process completed applications in the order they were received.***

 

United Way of Northern New Jersey created the ALICE Recovery Fund (#ALICErecovery) in partnership with United Way of Hunterdon County to address emerging needs of households financially impacted by the COVID-19 pandemic.

 

Eligibility And Documentation Requirements

 

Geography

The Fund is open solely to the residents of Hunterdon, Morris, Somerset, Sussex, and Warren counties, as well as Suburban Essex which includes the Caldwells, Cedar Grove, Essex Fells, Fairfield, Glen Ridge, Livingston, Millburn-Short Hills, Montclair, Roseland, and Verona.

 

Income

The Fund is open to those whose household income fell below the ALICE Household Survival Budget (plus 10%), prior to layoff or business closure due to the pandemic.

Applicants will be required to provide proof of income prior to the pandemic’s impact, as well as proof of unemployment or reduction of work hours after February 1, 2020. The following are the income guidelines:
 

  • Single adults must have had an annual income below $35,560 without dependents or up to $88,128 with two or more dependents.
     

  • Two adult households must have had an annual income below $52,444 without dependents or up to $103,836 with two or more dependents.

 

Required documentation

  • Proof of income before job/business loss or reduction of hours for all members of household (can be pay stub, page 1 of 2019 income tax form showing adjusted gross income, IRS Form W-2 for 2019, etc.).
     

  • Proof of termination of job, reduction of hours, or loss of business (can be termination notice, proof of unemployment benefits, etc.).

 

Important: Please black out your social security number before sending documents. Do not include original documents. Copies or scanned copies are acceptable.

 

Funding decisions

All applications are reviewed by a committee comprised of United Way staff and volunteers. Decisions are final and cannot be disputed for any reason. United Ways of Northern New Jersey, Hunterdon County have final authority on all fund distribution decisions.
