Women’s Leadership Champion Tiffany Dufu Headlines United Way Fundraiser

Area women business, community and philanthropic leaders are invited to network and hear from celebrated author and CEO Tiffany Dufu, who cracked Fast Company’s League of Extraordinary Women list, at the United Way Women United annual fundraiser on Friday, March 24 at the Bridgewater Marriott.


Held from 10:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m., the event also will honor Lisa Hamilton, the first female president and CEO of the Annie E. Casey Foundation, with its Women In Philanthropy Award.


Proceeds will support United Way of Northern New Jersey’s work helping ALICE (Asset Limited, Income Constrained, Employed) and households in poverty throughout its five-county footprint. Despite working hard, ALICE workers struggle to afford the basics.


Tiffany Dufu is author of “Drop the Ball: Achieving More by Doing Less” and founder and CEO of The Cru, a peer coaching company for women. A consultant to Fortune 500 companies, Tiffany ran a national women’s leadership organization, served as chief leadership officer at a technology company for millennial women, and launched a girls’ middle school. She has been featured in The New York Times; ESSENCE; O, The Oprah Magazine; and on NPR.


“This year’s Rise and Shine luncheon will attract over 400 influential and accomplished women who are dedicated to taking action on behalf of ALICE workers and families in our region,” said Senior Director of Women’s Philanthropy and Donor Engagement Michele Dreiblatt. “The stories shared at the event will educate, inspire, and motivate our attendees to create meaningful change for ALICE.”


This year’s Women in Philanthropy award recipient is Lisa Hamilton, the first female president and CEO of the Annie E. Casey Foundation. Prior to this role, Lisa served as the foundation’s executive vice president and chief program officer, overseeing investments to promote community change, economic opportunity for families, and public system reform. During a 14-year career with UPS, Lisa advanced to president of the UPS Foundation, where she directed global philanthropic and volunteer programs.


Moderating the event is Allison C. Williams, the founder and owner of the Williams Law Group in Short Hills, N.J. Williams has appeared on NJBIZ’s Best 50 Women in Business list and is a frequent lecturer.
