During National Volunteer Week, we recognize the dedication of our volunteers who are helping to improve life for ALICE households and families in poverty. Whether they are preparing taxes and saving struggling families the average $270 fee tax preparers charge, or packing more than 2,000 backpacks during United Way Tools for School, our volunteers are changing lives.

This year alone, we have seen:

·        2,465 volunteers lend their muscle to various projects

·        33,911 hours given toward making an impact

·        $1,078,370 worth of time donated

Together, we are helping ALICE families rise. Plus, volunteers also benefit when they are United in Purpose with us. Those who give back to their community often report feeling more fulfilled and happier than those who don’t.

MEET ALICE

ALICE   is an acronym for Asset Limited, Income Constrained, Employed, and represents the growing number of families who are unable to afford the basics of housing, food, child care, health care, technology, and transportation. These workers often struggle to keep their own households from financial ruin, while keeping our local economies running.
